Aurous 19 by U.S.
Specialty Color Corporation is a QPL approved
powdered chromate conversion coating for processing
aluminum alloys to Mil-C-81706.
Aurous 19 is a
powdered chemical used to produce a protective
chromate conversion coating on aluminum, which
minimizes corrosion and provides an improved bond
for painting. The coating produced can be used as a
final finish or can be dyed various colors. The
innovative formulation enables the finisher to
produce gold coatings with excellent corrosion
protection as well as clear work using the same
product.

Conversion Coatings
Chem Film, also
widely referred by the brand names Alodine or
Iridite, is the application of a chromate conversion
coating on aluminum alloys. Conversion coatings
produce a finish which:
- Protects the
surface from corrosion
- Provides a
surface for better adhesion of primers, paints
and powder coat
- Conducts
electricity
- Extends
shelf-life of parts while resisting staining and
fingerprinting
- Can be used for
touch up of scrapes or bare spots from various
causes
